I started SLATE because I wanted to help more actors realize their potential—not just as actors—but as humans too. With self-confidence and worth. With direction and purpose.
I kept seeing the same thing - aspiring actors being under-developed, taking classes in multiple places but still lost, lacking confidence, craving a challenge and desperate for a coach who leads with passion and discipline.
SLATE exists to change that.
This is a place where refining your craft, embracing a mindset that keeps you sane and sharpening your career strategy are all one mission.
You don’t just get a coach. I’m also a creative partner—one who has done all three at the highest level.
I keep it real with an honest exploration of the human condition, a true love and deep respect for the craft of acting combined with grit, tough love and no BS.
Let’s work.
Let’s make magic.

Who is she?NICOLE BARRÉ
Founder, SLATE Acting
NICOLE BARRÉ has spent thirty years inside the industry as an actor, behind the scenes and now as a guide for the next generation.
She came up on Louisiana film sets in the 1990s, learned the business as a personal assistant to the Jolie-Pitt family in Los Angeles, and has spent the last two decades quietly building one of the most respected coaching practices in the South. One known as much for its warmth and humor as for its rigor.
She is a working actor, a guitarist, a pianist and a storyteller. A softly rebellious creative who refuses to draw a hard line between any part of herself. Her feedback is honest and it lands with a dry wit and a lightness that makes the hard truths easier to receive. She believes there is magic in this work, and she coaches actors toward the moment when something that feels impossible becomes possible.
In 2026, Nicole founded SLATE Acting to formalize what she has been doing quietly with clients for years: integrating craft, mindset, and career strategy into one cohesive body of work. Nicole works with ALL actors - regardless of age, gender or where they are in their career. But there is a part of this work that goes deeper. She has developed an extra-special connection working with and mentoring young women. She carries this part of her mission close to her heart.
As a young girl trying to navigate her dream of becoming an actress Nicole didn’t always have the support and guidance she wanted and needed. This childhood experience shaped her in the way she coaches and leads. Nicole wants to be for them what she didn’t have for herself. She brings honesty, heart and a real understanding of the responsibility of shaping the next generation of young women. It is purpose-driven work. Click here to read Nicole’s manifesto.
